Record Tracking

Transcript Summary

Introduction

Hey everybody, Today, we are shining a spotlight on record tracking.

What is Record Tracking?

Record tracking gives us the ability to log changes and deletions for records, both from the Builder and from the live app.

Enabling Record Tracking

To enable record tracking, it must be turned on for each individual table. For example, if your application has 10 data tables and you want to track changes or deletions for all of them, you need to enable this setting for each table individually.

  1. Go into each data table.
  2. Enable record tracking for that table.

Deleting and Logging Records

Once record tracking is enabled, you can see logs for deleted records. Here’s an example:

  • I’m going to batch delete records.
  • At the top right, you’ll notice a delete icon. From here, I can access my delete logs.

Viewing Record History

Record tracking also allows you to view the history of records, including when they were created and other important information.

  • After adding a new record, you can check the record history. You’ll be able to see when the record was created, along with additional details.

This feature is available both in the live app and on the page side. You can access record history directly from a page in your application:

  1. Navigate to the page builder.
  2. Select a component.
  3. Go to the links menu and add a record history link.

When previewing the page, you’ll see a new button that allows you to view the record history directly from the page.

Conclusion

That’s how we use record tracking. Thanks for watching, everybody! We’ll see you next time.
